About

I am hard-working and sociable and enjoy taking the time to get to know people. A family person, I have two children, one in Sixth form and one now farming. I established Imogen Newman Home Help in 2022, after being asked by a number of people if I could help their loved ones, provide companionship and assistance with day-to-day things.

My background

I grew up in Dorset, then moved to London to study History of Art at University College London. Afterwards I did an MA at Bath Spa University College, then worked and travelled before getting a position at the Royal College of Art, London. In 2001, I got married to Andrew and we moved to Bristol and started a family. In 2010, we settled properly in Arnside, which I knew well as we always spent time with my Granny & Grandpa here in the holidays and went walking the local area and climbing the fells.

My relevant experience includes:

Age UK

Befriender: Supported clients across Cumbria and South Lakes – visiting them at home as well as regularly checking in on the phone. I am still in contact with a number of clients I now consider friends.

Friends of Chernobyl’s Children charity

Trustee and Host: I worked with FOCC for over 5 years and became a Trustee on the committee. As a family we hosted a child each summer for 5 years. In 2019, I travelled to Belarus on behalf of the charity visiting the families of the children on the programme and meeting with our Belarusian colleagues working for the charity there.

Outside work

Outside work, I enjoy walking, cooking, reading, going to theatre & music events, travelling & gardening. I am often out exploring the area with our dog Rusty. Some of my clients enjoy meeting her too.
